Friday's Random Roundup/The Latest Finnisms

Why, hello there! It's January...the most wonderful time of the year. If you live in Hawaii, that is. If you don't, perhaps you can join me in trying to find things to take joy in.

Finn's latest catchphrase is "that's the biggest (piece of bread) I've ever seen in my whole family!" You can insert anything into the bread spot...sometimes it's "Mommy, that's the best job you've ever done cooking noodles in my whole family!" Not sure why he's replaced "life" with "family" but it's always good for a laugh.

My sister gave Finn this Play-doh "toolin' around" set for Christmas. He loves it.

I bought a bunch of Kool Aid packets to make play dough with for Finn's class at school. I dropped them out of the grocery bag by accident and Eamonn was on them like white on rice. Had to snap a photo of this stinker face before cleaning them up.

Finn really does often participate in dinner prep. Here he is helping me make pizza  dough.

I took the boys to the Museum of Life and Science on Wednesday. It was overcast and as we drove, Finn said, "Mommy, look at the cloud blanket!" I thought he meant a blanket we have in the car, and was telling him I couldn't look because I was driving, when I realized he meant the cumulus clouds covering the sky. "Wow, Finn, there is a cloud blanket! Is it keeping us warm?" "No, Mommy, it's in the sky and we're on the ground." Duh-uh!

Eamonn says, where are my sunglasses???

I think Eamonn is teething. Finn got his first tooth at about 8 months. Eamonn was fussing yesterday afternoon, so I plopped him in the booster with a couple of apple slices and he gnawed away.

Thanks for the bear hat, Mare Mare.

Headed out on a walk. It's cold today--in the 30s this morning--and I had the distinct pleasure of remembering that it takes a good 20 minutes to get both boys in hats, gloves, and coats. And beco-ed and snacked and diapered. Finn got his first pair of real gloves for Christmas (he has a lifelong hatred of mittens) and I won't even tell you how long it took to explain that each finger needed its own spot and how many comic moments of three fingers in one finger hole we had. I need to move to Boca Raton.

One day this week, Finn was eating lunch and I was making one of my kale/bean combinations that he refers to as "salad."

Finn: I don't like salad.
me: Why? Does it taste different to you?
Finn: Yes. I don't like differents, I like goods.

And finally, we're not getting much sleep in this household due to some new sleep issues for Finn...good times. But you'll be happy to know that his crib is getting use nonetheless:
